I’d better explain how all this came about before I continue, something I’m sure you’re all too familiar with.
We were doing our annual New Year visits across the country to see some of the family, one of our first stops was my grandparents and they are certainly characters, to say the least! As we were just settling in and catching up on all the yearly events we’d missed we noticed the new coffee table they had sitting right in the middle of the room, astounded at its uniquenss we had to learn more about it!
My grandfather then showed me the shed where he’d actually spent hours crafting it, no matter how old he’ll never lose the skills of his trade!
The wood and iron combination being so incredibly eye-catching, we thought the next best thing would be to take a look online and see what similar designs we could find ourselves- a lot more practical than me attempting to craft one!
Now let’s get onto what I found.

The metal frame adds emphasis to the heavily weathered look of the iron and distressed wood coffee table, with the rich brown finish of the top and bottom shelf looking a treat in any vintage style décor!
The large surface gives plenty of storage space for drinks and decorations, plus the lower tier shelving providing that ideal space for any books and magazines that would normally be left to fill up old cupboards! The item I’ve found has some great online reviews.

Reclaimed Wood and Iron Coffee Table

Being recycled it’s great for the environment, giving old-wood some new life, using up fewer natural resources than getting new lumber, consequently saving energy. Such a simple-but-effective-way for people to help the plant! Who knew of all those benefits from just buying a coffee table!
Reclaimed wood is often stronger and therefore more durable than its newer counterparts due to its longevity; the exposure to varying temperatures means it’s already expanded and contracted to its full size, standing the test of time before you’ve made use of it! The usability of this type of wood added to the fact coffee tables are normally the hub of the living room for storage and display, emphasises the functional nature of this type of table.

I can’t believe we managed to find some so close to my grandfather’s designs, plus my Mother-in-laws should be here just in time for mother’s day, something I’m sure she’ll be overjoyed at!
Take a look at the wood and iron coffee tables I researched above and let me know what you think!
