Heavy Duty Weight Bench

My weight training has come on leaps and bounds since I’ve been using a heavy duty weight bench! Now my siblings and I are thinking of creating a joint home gym so this type of bench would be ideal for us, let me show you the three I liked.

Before I continue I better paint the picture, a situation probably all too common for you!

I’ve been lifting for several years now and seem to be getting the hang of it (so I’ve been told) and have been contemplating an upgrade! The gym I’ve used since I started has a good standard of equipment, a range suitable for beginner through to intermediate lifter.

However, I felt that with all the money I’m investing in monthly membership- which can add up over the years- why not consider a home gym? The initial time and effort to find, build and set up the new area to craft my physique may be fairly chaotic, but in the long run, the pros of high-quality equipment and financial saving will certainly out way the early chaos!

With that in mind, a bench was one of my first port of calls, being the necessity to any lifter! I found that most gyms try to cater for the masses -understandable yes- but it can be frustrating if your body shape just doesn’t quite fit the bench or when you’re packing on the load you have that back of the mind thought ‘will this bench do the job?’ So a heavy duty bench was something I researched and it seemed the ideal sort of bench to go for when upgrading to a home gym, let’s move onto the items I found.

Often with home gyms the key, in order to save space and keep costs down, is going for the multi-purpose pieces of equipment, benches that will not only serve you for chest but include variations for other muscle groups, legs and arms being the most popular! The heavy duty Olympic weight bench is a trusted piece of equipment, perfect for any lifter looking to step up their progress! The sturdy specially designed frame provides the support needed when attempting those heavier lifts that those normal benches just don’t cater for, with the wider than normal frame emphasising this.
The upholstery on heavy duty benches tend to make them such a popular choice, often thicker than normal to provide the utmost comfort whilst lifting, they aren’t too soft- they’re just right thickness to support you as you reach your fitness targets.

I found this model with great reviews.

People don’t often appreciate the use of heavy dumbbell exercises in cognition with barbell one’s, they are great! Yes you can pack the pounds on with a barbell and they give you a greater control, but the usability of dumbbells adds an extra dimension to your training regime. You can use them for equally the same muscle groups as a barbell, including the larger legs, back and chest, yet also they provide a distinct advantage- specialising in improving and adjusting technique/form! Something essential for any lifter- to ensure they are controlling the weight to prevent injury- often needs a   strong bench to match the lifts, something the flat weight bench will do fantastically!

The heavy duty bench will allow your mind to be put at ease, confidence in knowing that your bench will support your body weight and as you increase your max weight for maximum gains. The strong steel structure is also a huge plus point if you are just looking for an additional bench to combine with other equipment you may have, whether it be a squat rack or smith machine, the bench will give you freedom of choice for virtually any exercise that can be performed on a flat bench, across almost all the muscle groups.

The item I liked is great value for money and is fairly compact, so can be stored away whilst not in use.

A challenge faced whilst equipping any gym is the functionality of the equipment. It’s fantastic having multiple items for multiple purposes but these normally take up much-needed space so you have to prioritise the most important and useful based on your fitness targets. Adjustable heavy duty weight benches can bridge that gap and ensure you have the usability of three/four pieces of equipment in one! Having a range of movement, from decline to upright, you can ensure a selection of exercises covering almost all areas, whether you superset the Arnold press with triceps dips or decline chest fly’s with incline hammer curls- just simply set up your bench and you’ll be away!

If you already have a variety of gym essentials but are looking for the icing on the cake then the adjustable bench might be something to look at. Combine it with your barbell or dumbbells, squat or bench rack, the thick heavy duty padding will provide the base for you to continue your heavy lifting- with the practicality of adjusting the bench to your required exercise- meaning you can do most of your favourite routines without needing huge funds or space!

We’re thinking of ordering a few so we aren’t all waiting around for each other to finish, being our home gym we want to be able to use the equipment when we want! Plus it allows us to add in supersets, I can’t wait to try them out!

Take a look at the one’s that I’ve found above and let me know what you think of them.
