Compact Folding Weight Bench

This compact folding weight bench is one of the best fitness items I’ve purchased! I have upsized house recently and with the extra space thought I could finally get some home gym equipment to supplement with my gym work or if I’m busy and only have time for a short workout. Here are the three benches I found that stood out for me.

But first I better explain the scenario, I’m sure you have come across a familiar case before.

After getting a new job in the city, the extra cash I’d saved for the move had enabled me to upgrade my living space and have a few more rooms than I have been used to (Going from a one-bed apartment to three-bed house is a bit of a jump for me!). So with this space, I thought games room, study or an extra home office? But then I realised with my new hours, keeping up my usual gym schedule may be a challenge so a home gym would be the perfect solution!

Along with the standard free weights and squat rack, a bench was the next item on the list, but slightly trickier to find. I needed a compact one so it wouldn’t fill up too much of the room with the other pieces of equipment and also if friends were over it wouldn’t feel too cramped.

After being advised by my Personal Trainer which type of bench to get, here are the models that stood out to me as ideal for a home gym.

Folding Flat Weight Bench

In some cases, the folding flat weight bench is an ideal investment. When a solid, easily stored bench is needed this usually ticks the boxes for most due to the steel frame providing a stern support and the rubber-coated feet ensure the bench will not slide, staying firm even during the highest workout intensities.

Also being home equipment, it’s great when you have a multi-purpose piece of kit which enables different exercises to be performed for a variety of muscle groups- which this bench does fantastically. Whether its chest, abs or triceps, the padded surface provides that extra comfort whilst exercising- meaning all effort can be focused on lifting the weights and not the pain of being uncomfortable! With the adjustable barbell rest being a great feature to match your reach when loading/unloading the weight.

It’s also a great piece to have in a compact space as a friend has emphasised, the folding of the bench allows it to be stored in tighter spaces around the house than you’d expect! Here is the one I found.

Folding Olympic Weight Bench

This folding Olympic weight bench is ideal for those who want a heavy duty workout at home, yet still, need it storing somewhere it with ease. With a high weight capacity of bench and leg developer, it provides the most intense workouts in a compact area of your home.

The easy to use folding mechanism is at hand when it needs to be stored, as well as having an adjustable bar stand that can be tweaked to your needs, no matter how long or short your arms! This is a personal favourite of mine due to the, as mentioned, the leg curl/extension attached to the end of the bench, meaning you are not limited to upper body exercises! Along with flat, incline and decline positions, this weight bench can be used to perform a wide variety of exercises that even the best gyms provide. Matched with the added benefit of not needing to wait for others to finish using it, it’s at home where you can decide when and what exercise to perform on this multi-use Olympic bench.

If you are into doing as serious workouts at home, as you are at the gym then this one I found will be an almost perfect fit.

Weight Bench Body-Solid Folding

Now, this weight bench body solid folding is a great extra bench to add to an already kitted out gym, or for those who have free weights/barbells and just need the finishing touch. Coming already assembled it can be used straight away and with its 7 position adjustment, you can have an almost endless amount of exercises done at flat, incline and decline level.

The thick padding provides that much-needed support whilst undergoing your home workout, also having built-in wheels that can be pulled out when needed to transport it. These being beneficial when aiming to store it, being a compact bench it can fit in any sort of space, from behind the wardrobe to under a bed! The kind of equipment needed if you haven’t got a lot of room and have to work out in the garage or your bedroom!

Having a strong frame, the bench is being supported during intense workouts and the design of the framework ensures its durability. A friend recommended this type of bench from his own experience, here’s the closest one to his recommendation.

Thankfully now I never miss (or have a reason to miss) a workout, as from home the bench can provide the best platform to continue my fitness programme. As well as being performed at a variety of intensities and different muscle groups exercised. I also have space in the room for other equipment, or the ability to move it around rooms due to its compact size.

Let me know what you think of the compact folding weight benches after you have checked them out!
